IRBIS Publishing House (IRBIS LLC) produces, publishes and distributes academic journals for health care professionals. The journal "Journal of Medical Rehabilitation" was founded by IRBIS Publishing House. The journal provided information support to the Problem Commission "Epilepsy. Paroxysmal States" of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences, the Russian Ministry of Health Care and Social Development, and the Russian League Against Epilepsy (Chapter of International League Against Epilepsy, ILAE).
IRBIS Publishing House is also the founder of other highly rated peer-reviewed journals: "Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproduction" and "FARMAKOEKONOMIKA. Modern Pharmacoeconomics and Pharmacoepidemiology", which are leading academic journals in their respective fields. In 2019, the IRBIS Publishing House became part of the Institute for Preventive and Social Medicine. This produced synergies as clinical research, conferences and webinars for physicians were strengthened, opening perspectives for multi-channel communication and digital marketing. There has been a significant increase in readership with a growing share of content consumption via mailing lists and social media for physicians.
From the founding of the Journal until his untimely demise in 2019, the Editor-in-chief of the journal was Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Gagik N. Avakian. Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Doctor of Medicine, Professor Vladimir A. Karlov was Editor-in-chief in 2020-2022.
Seeking to expand its competence and expertise in publishing high-quality peer-reviewed journals, the Journal redaction, being a structural subdivision of IRBIS Publishing House, since 2017 has become a member of the Russian Association of Scientific Editors and Publishers (RASEP).
Since 2011 the Journal is included in the "List of top peer-reviewed scientific journals and publications" where scientists seeking academic degrees are required to publish their results and currently it is equated to the publications of the 1st Category (the highest category) of this list.
Since 2019 the Journal is indexed by Scopus, and since 2022 - the Chinese national academic database CNKI (China National Knowledge Infrastructure) Scholar.
Since October 2022, the journal, as well as other peer-reviewed journals of IRBIS Publishing House, have been included in the RCSI's White List - a list of academic journals to be used for performance assessment scientific institutions.
